I’m Sam. I co-founded UNILAD, and with the help of an incredibly talented team, grew a small Facebook page from my bedroom in Birmingham, into one of the biggest social media companies in the world with over 60 million fans and over 1 billion video views every month.
Over the course of 6 years, UNILAD grew to over 200 staff with offices in Manchester and London and a team in New York, all with no investment.
I was awarded a place on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2017.
In that time, we pioneered social media strategy, breaking records for being the most viewed social media publisher of all time, with over 4.5 billion video views one month, and we were consistently the most popular publisher across social media every year.
In 2016, we launched our travel channel, UNILAD Adventure, where I implemented the same social strategies that I used to build UNILAD. Within 2 years, UNILAD Adventure had over 6 million fans, was the most viewed travel channel on social media receiving over 100 million video views a month, and won the Digiday Award for the Best New Brand in Europe.
It is through growing UNILAD Adventure that I discovered my passion for travel, and how to use travel content to create a greater appreciation for nature, wildlife, and cultures around the world. One of my proudest pieces of work at UNILAD was our 'Dark Truth Behind Tourism' series which looked to raise awareness about how animals are exploited for tourist activities such as elephant riding.
Moving on from UNILAD, i’m looking to continue to pioneer social video content, create content about awesome people and places around the globe, and help other's achieve their goals.
